Getting started with Miaoboxzone

Last updated: Applies to: Miaoboxzone 1.0 and later on Windows 10 64-bit or laterVerified on:

Short answer

Install the Windows installer, add a source URL, choose a save folder, and the download is written to disk and indexed into your local library automatically.

Key facts

  • "Miaoboxzone runs entirely on your machine; no cloud account is required for basic use."
  • "Downloads resume after interruption instead of restarting from zero."
  • "Your library database lives next to your media folder and can be backed up like any file."

Install the application

  1. Download the latest Windows installer from the download page.
  2. Verify the SHA-256 checksum shown on that page against the file you received.
  3. Run the installer. Miaoboxzone installs per-user, so no administrator rights are needed.

Add your first source

  1. Open the Download centre and press New task.
  2. Paste the URL of a media page you have the right to save.
  3. Choose a format and a destination folder.
  4. Press Start. Progress is tracked in the task list and the file is written to disk as it downloads.

Where your data lives

Everything Miaoboxzone creates is stored locally:

  • Media files go to the destination folder you picked.
  • The library database (metadata, watch state, tags) lives in your profile folder.
  • Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
